👌 Most companies will have several interviews and assessments to check credentials, determine job capabilities, get different opinions and learn about a candidate’s personality. Most of the time, you can expect 3-4 rounds.

👍 The first stage interview usually focuses on your qualifications, employment history and experience.

🖖 Each interview is an opportunity to discuss your experience and interests and to show your interviewer who you are.

🤚 Each interview is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and gather the information that will help you to make a decision at the offer stage.

💪 Here are a few pointers to help you move through the process with confidence.

Your connection and permissions - test the conferencing software works on your device and ensure camera and mic access is enabled!

Call details - have them ready so you’re not looking for them at the last minute and always test the link before the call.

Your environment - make sure it’s quiet, and you can speak freely.

Pen and paper - to hand in case you need to create diagrams, make notes, etc.

First Impressions

“How are you today?” is always a great start.

Be on time, well-presented, and positive. Listen closely to what the interviewer says, thank them for their time, and be sure you’re showing your interest.

Research the Company

Around 50% of candidates are rejected because they only have a vague idea about the company and the role. To beat the stats, you need to research and find something unique about the company that interests you.

Remember to research your interviewers. This can help settle nerves. You might also find you have common interests or experiences that can help you connect with your interviewer.

Prepare Questions

Always ask questions! What do you want to know about the company? You can ask technical questions, business questions, or culture questions.

Use the opportunity to ask meaningful questions, not something you could easily find the answer to online. Prepare a variety of questions before your interview.

Tell your story

What have you done that you’re really proud of? What are the toughest problems you’ve solved? What background do you have to give the interviewers to show just how tough that project was?
